Cherishing Him

One day, my wife saw my little Antoinette burst out in tears. For no apparent reason, she was crying uncontrollably. When my wife asked her why, she confessed with full contrition. Antoinette on reflection remembered deep within her memory that one time when she smacked me in anger. She misses me so much now that she feels so guilty about what she had done and felt that she should not have done so.

My wife said, "She cherish you now."

When my wife said that, I immediately reflected upon our relationship with God that it should be like that too. For if we cherish our relationship with our heavenly Father, there will be things that we would regret that we had done that we should not have done and feel remorseful of our past. As a relationship with God grows that much closer we realise that because He is so important to us, we not only think about those things which we have done wrong but also the things which we have yet to do to show how important our relationship with God is.

It is so true what Paul says in 2 Cor 6.1 that we should to receive the grace of God in vain. Having God love us first, we ought to love Him even more. A little is not enough. Its when you realise how much your parents have done for you that you can't just take but want to give back. The longer more you realise how much your parents have done and how little time is left, you just want to make up for what you have not done in the past. Its a strange kind of feeling, but a natural one. How much more should our relationship with God develop like so?

Our earthly parents have given birth to us, but our heavenly Father was in Christ, will to sacrifice the life to save ours. When our earthly parents feed us, our Heavenly Father forgives us. The list would be endless. But the list would say one thing. We must show how much we cherish Him.

In conclusion, let us return to be a child, and think what is right and wrong in our relatinoship with God, and right the wrong, so that we can, in all humility, draw near to our loving heavenly Father.
